What is Over, Short, and Damaged Report (OS&D)?

An OS&D report uses the following information to determine the accuracy and quality of a shipment:

  • Shipment numbers
  • Item descriptions
  • Item quantities
  • Observed damages

Both the driver and the consignee will receive a copy of the OS&D shipping report. After the paperwork is completed, all parties involved can work towards a resolution by:

  • Filing a claim
  • Refunds
  • Returning overages
  • Returning and replacing damaged goods

Regularly reviewing OS&D reports allows companies to improve their operations for future shipments.
