What is Dry Run?

Whenever a dry run in trucking occurs, it means a truck driver was unable to pick up cargo for delivery at the designated time. This is bad for both drivers and carriers because it means they will have spent the time and resources to drive somewhere, but not be able to recover it because of a lack of cargo. Drivers especially want to avoid dry runs because many will only be paid when an actual load is involved.
